Releasing fear and building confidence in your birth
It is not only that we want to bring about an easy labor, without risking injury to the mother or the child; we must go further. We must understand that childbirth is fundamentally a spiritual, as well as a physical, achievement. . . The birth of a child is the ultimate perfection of human love.”
— Dr. Grantly Dick-Read, 1953

When should I do the Hypnobirthing Course?

If you are given the choice, I would advise doing the course in the second trimester/ from week 20 of your pregnancy so you can enjoy the benefits during your pregnancy and at the birth of your baby.  It is a matter of absorbing the information so that it becomes second nature rather than learning facts. However, KG Hypnobirthing works whenever you do it.

If you do the course earlier, you may be more likely to find another mother to join you/ recommend HypnobirthMe.com to and therefore receive a discount.

Why Choose a Hypnobirthing CouRse?

The results speak for themselves mothers and fathers, hospitals and midwives are all raving about hypnobirthing. I invite you to read Hypnobirthing testimonials and birth stories (as seen in the KG website here. The happy clients are the true testament to how well Hypnobirthing works.

Why KG hypnobirthing...

I teach the original UK Hypnobirthing course which is designed especially for mothers in the UK.  The course is constantly evolving to keep up-to-date with the latest evidence and research.

All KG Hypnobirthing teachers are knowledgeable and highly trained to support you in hypnobirthing.

A KG Hypnobirthing Course not only equips you with the hypnobirthing information, but also gives you the knowledge to understand your options and the implications of the choices you make.  As well as showing you the techniques you need for a successful hypnobirth, it gives you the information to navigate the system in which you find yourself so that you are able to achieve the best outcome for you and your baby.

Will the father/ Birthing partner need to come to the course too?

They do not, but they will be very glad if they did.  Most partners arrive at the course quite sceptical and leave extremely enthusiastic and excited.  A birthing partner can make a huge difference to your birth and can be an incredible important companion to you. .

A typical father at a birth is someone who is nervous, feeling responsible for the situation her partner is in, holding her hand and wishing he could help, but not knowing exactly what to do.

A hypnobirthing father is full of knowledge and able to support his partner as she gives birth.  He is a huge asset in the birth and many mothers say agree that they couldn't have done it without their birthing partner. The couple will have practised together before the birth which can bring them closer together, and they know that they have played an important part in how the baby enters the world.  This deepens their relationship as a couple, and their relationship with his baby.

Will it still work if I come alone?

Yes, definitely.  Many women have come to the course on their own.   If your partner can’t come, I would welcome your mother, a friend, or whoever will be supporting you at the birth (trusting they are not also pregnant).

Will the fee cover my partner as well as myself?

Yes, there is no additional charge for the partner to attend.

Will you give a discount?

Discounts are available- for successful referrals a 10% discount is available, provided they book the course before you give birth.

In the event you book a private course and find another couple to attend the course along with you, a discount will also be available for you.

HISTORY OF HYPNOBIRTHING

In 1957, after two years of study by eminent neurologists and psychoanalysts, the BMA issued a statement that ‘hypnosis is an effective method of relieving pain in childbirth’ and proposed that all doctors should train in hypnotherapy. Although this is not the case today, many dentists train in hypnosis.

The seeds of the natural birth movement were first sown with the work of eminent obstetrician Dr.Grantly Dick-Read. After witnessing a homebirth in the slums of the London Docks in 1913 where the mother refused any pain relief and then proceeded to give birth quickly and comfortably. The mother’s comment after giving birth when he asked why she refused the pain relief was “It didn’t hurt. It wasn’t meant to, was it, Doctor?” This experience was defining, and after a career of working on the battle field in the first world war and subsequently in hospitals as an obstetrician he theorized that fear was the overriding cause that led to the pain in childbirth. At the end of his career he wrote the book “Childbirth Without Fear”. He hypothesized that when you are fearful, you tense up and the natural birth process is inhibited and becomes longer and consequently more painful.

Over the years his theories have been fully vindicated with research into how hormones work during childbirth. His principles have been further developed by a number of natural birth practitioners with Hypnobirthing being the most notable and widely practised. Today KG Hypnobirthing is known by every midwife in the UK and many have trained in KG Hypnobirthing. Obstetricians are also beginning to understand the significance of the work we do.

Maria & Filipe (mum & dad of Aria)

Thank you for preparing us for the calm and peaceful birth of our little girl. The hypnobirthing classes were just an amazing idea. Full birth story click here

SAM (Mum of OSCAR)

Hypnobirthing was key for me throughout this process. The course and practise up to the birth really helped me to focus on the breathing, remain calm and relaxed in order to promote oxytocin to aid the labour process. I would definitely recommend Mary-Anne’s course to all Mums-To-Be!  Full story here

ISADORA (MUM OF LOELIE)

We enjoyed Mary-Anne always sticking to the positive and teaching us lots of positions and visualisations, it was great how natural she was about intimate matters too.

We wanted to share our birthing story with you and thank you for preparing us for the experience in the best way possible. Full story here

MELISSA - (MUM TO AUDREY) Caesarian Birth

Whilst the actual events didn't go by our birth plan, the course faced us so much confidence to be in control of the whole process. The birth was still a positive experience for both os us. It was relaxed and we got to do delayed cord, skin to skin in theatre. Thanks for giving us the confidence to go with our choices and not get railroaded down an escalating path. Full story here

AGNESE (MUM TO MIA)

My partner and I were very excited to attend Mary-Anne's led hypnobirthing course. We very much enjoyed the location, the intimate atmosphere and the very personal approach. The fact that Mary-Anne had herself gone through having successful hypnobirth, was very important for us as she gave us useful advice which we know really worked for her too. Ever since the end of the course, we have been practicing all the breathing and relaxation techniques and are in a very relaxed and excited state of mind in our last few weeks / days before our little girl arrives. Thank you Mary-Anne for giving us a fresh perspective on what a birth can be and we look forward to our meet-up in a couple of months when the little angel is out!

We had our baby girl!!!! At home!!! No pain relief!!!! THANK YOU!!!!

jessie (Mum TO PHOEBE)

“The hypnobirthing course with Mary-Anne has left much more confident in my ability to manage and more importantly, enjoy the experience of birth. The practical elements covered have given me the tools to understand hospital jargon and also to make informed choices around the birth whilst the relaxation exercises are helping to shift my focus to a more positive birth experience. The course has also helped to give my partner a role and has increased his confidence too. I know that, thanks to hypnobirthing, whatever kind of birth I end up having it will be a more positive experience for myself, my partner and inevitably for baby too!”.

I have to say the birth was just as I had wanted it to be. No doubt thanks to your course.

Sarah (MUM OF CONNIE)

HypnobirthMe has been the perfect addition to our pregnancy journey so far. MaryAnne's tailored approach to our birth plan has really helped to focus and prepare us for the arrival of our little lady. From coaching us on relaxation and breathing techniques to daily reminders to affirm the pregnant female form, we really couldn't ask much more from a hypnobirthing practitioner. Such a positive experience that will open your mind to the wonders of maternity.

Emily (MUM OF WOODY)

I got everything out of this course. I'm honestly actually looking forward to the birth now, rather than seeing it as something scary but necessary to get to my baby.

NIINA (MUM OF AVA)

The benefit of hypnobirthing was that I remained calm and the baby was and is still calm baby.

KELSEY

This course was genuinely life changing. Mary-Anne is a fantastic Hypnobirthing coach and instantly put us at ease when we started the course. We really weren't sure if it would be the right kind of birth prep course for us, but her frank, honest and funny manner were exactly what we needed in order to relate to the content. Thanks to her course we feel prepared and excited about the birth of our baby and we have the tools to approach it with confidence and knowledge. As someone who struggles with anxiety I can honestly say that since doing this course I feel calm, I no longer allow other people's experiences or fears sink in and effect how I feel about our baby's journey into the world, and I am excited to go through it! Thank you for changing our lives for the better, we really cannot thank you enough

Hannah

I liked how the course covered everything from pre to post birth, the focus on the positive birthing experience and that ow I feel prepared and excited about the process. An excellent course that not only prepared me but also Hector to. Thank you

Jo

Thanks for being so great, reassuring & helping us to feel a lot more empowered about our baby’s birth. I loved the relaxations and practical things to do at home

Sarah

I really like the whole ethos of the course – to start to look at birth in a positive way, to eliminate negative birth stories and discussions of pain etc. We’ve really made an effort to try and get excited about the whole process, to repeat our affirmations and grow our confidence. It’s helped in changing the way we frame the whole process.

Naomi

I liked the relaxation sessions and the teacher, who looked for further information to make sure all our questions were answered. The atmosphere created made the course a great experience. We both feel now much more confident about the birth and are much looking forward to it.

Hypnobirthing in Teddington and the surrounding areas.

An enormous congratulations on your pregnancy and thank you for visiting HypnobirthMe.com today.

My name is Mary-Anne and I am a mother and a Teddington based experienced KG Hypnobirthing teacher. Historically, I have worked in the city in the financial sector as well as in the Events industry for over 8 years. My mission today, is to release fear and build confidence in you and to provide you with all the tools you need for a more comfortable, calm and positive birth experience, just as mine was. I trained with Katherine Graves and am a registered member of The Hypnobirthing Association (Katherine Graves).

I decided to teach Hypnobirthing after having my son, Max, who was born to such a positive Hypnobirthing experience and now I am expecting my second some time in November 2018.. Hypnobirthing can  have an amazing effect on you and your baby- strengthening your bond and giving your child the most tender loving start in their life. It isn't going to be the "alternative" antenatal course you might expect... it's totally practical and leaves you with so much knowledge and steps on how to take control of your own birth.

I absolutely adore what I do and I can’t wait to share my expertise and positivity with you.

I look forward to meeting you.

Mary-Anne (DipGb(KG))
